Hotel
After a week and a half of adventure in Bangkok and Chiang Mai we were ready to slow down and relax. We loved the Outrigger Beach Resort, located on the north eastern part of the island. Our room and private dip pool was incredible. Greeted with a very warm welcome and the most delicious tea and mango dessert, I almost asked for seconds. A late lunch by the sea, and by lunch I mean a good old fashioned burger, was delicious and juicy.
Chaweng Beach and a Thai Massage
Breakfast continued to amaze me and the Outrigger didnโt hold back. This was our favorite coffee and the views and the morning breeze was just what we needed. Lots of activity happening on Chaweng Beach, we found a place to grab a drink, rest our feet and enjoy the views.
My second Thai massage exceeded my expectations and an hour only cost $30. About halfway through the massage the next thing I know she is walking on my hamstrings. I began laughing so hard however I felt like a new woman when she was done with me. Those Thai masseuseโs know what they are doing!
ATV Tour
Today was an adventure. We jumped in the back of a truck and headed to the hills for a full day with X-Quad Samui ATV Tour exploring the highest point of the island. We joined 3 guys from Paris and a couple from Vegas. This was our first time to drive an ATV and I was slightly intimated however after a few minutes I quickly figured it out. The views were absolutely incredible. We reached the highest point of the island and enjoyed a fabulous homemade Thai lunch. This was an all day event and I highly recommend.
We made dinner reservations for the seafood buffet and our table was right on the edge of the beach. The spread was incredible. They were grilling fresh seafood and had just about everything you could imagine.
A Lazy day and Dinner at Pepenero
Todayโs itinerary: enjoy the pool, read, eat lunch, learn how to make a Thai dessert (Foi Thong) and partake in what was probably the best Italian meal I have ever had. Be sure to add Pepenero to your list and thank me later.
Cooking Class
That afternoon we had a private cooking class at the resort with the chef. up to this point there were several things we hadnโt made yet so we picked three new things. The chicken satay was super easy and super tasty.
Our Last Day
It was a unanimous decision to order Pad Thai for lunch, so glad I have the recipe ๐ John and I were hanging out on the sofa overlooking the beach and out in the distance we saw a storm rolling in. Lunch sounded like a good idea (under cover) and we were glad we did, the storm rolled through and people were drenched! 15 minutes later blue sky.
Our 28 hour journey home from Thailand began at 5pm and it was truly an adventure. This was out first overseas trip together and we have so many moments to remember. Thailand you were incredible and I look forward to our next visit.
