One of my dear friends Stevie Patrick introduced me to her Green Bean Bake recipe. I was immediately hooked after the first bite and remembered leaving dinner that night with the recipe in my hands. The simplicity of this dish makes it so simple anyone can make it and you will look like a hero in the kitchen. Lets face it, anything with bacon is a winner in my books.
I have made this dish so many times and every single time someone asks for the recipe. It’s a good thing it’s only 5 ingredients and easy to remember. Here is all you need:
Recipe
Ingredients
- 5 14.5 oz cans cut green beans, drained
- 5 bacon slices diced into 1 inch
- 1 yellow onion chopped
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in a bowl until green beans are covered in sauce.
- Spread into an ungreased 13×9″ baking pan
- Bake at 250ยฐ for 3 hours (Stir mixture halfway through cook time – You can bake hotter for a shorter period of time)
A side dish you can share no matter the occasion
This Baked Green Bean dish pairs well with any weeknight meal or even on your Thanksgiving or holiday dinner table. If you don’t need the entire 13×9 dish you can easily cut the recipe in half. However leftovers really do taste good.
What’s nice is you probably already have the majority of the five ingredients in your fridge/pantry. One of the best kept secrets about this recipe is it makes the whole house smell amazing.
